Some work done over the last few weeks

It has been a while since my last post, and I've done quite a few little paint jobs since. So without further ado here they are:

My new Chaos Lord for my Warriors of Chaos army has been completed. not too sure if i'm happy with his blade and the lava effect.

I ordered one of the last Crom the Conqueror models. I've always loved it, since it first came out in the Storm of Chaos way back when. Painting metal figurines has brought back some good memories. gonna miss that medium.

Finally got round to painting the Black Kraken. Such tiny details and so much fun! Got lots more Dreadfleet stuff to paint though!

My latest addition to my Grey Knights army is the Nemesis Dreadknight above. Magnetised the sword and waist, more for transporting tha for actual WYSIWYG game purposes. Not my proudest job, but it will suffice

I am currently working on some Nightlords Teminators for a friend. the lightning was painful at first, but now comes smoothly

My Triarch Praetorian Kill Team was more an impulse buy than any proper strategic thinking. I gave them the Staff of the Covenant, thinking they might be effective.... they are not. i do hope the next codex fixes these guys. The only similar theme to my main army is the blades on the staffs, and they were intended to be used as a Killteam. I doubt they would see much game time otherwise.

This is my converted Grey Knights Librarian, using the Dark Vengeance librarian character and some spare bits from the strike force box. Was a lot of fun to build and looks pretty effective.

i still have a whole lot of chaos to paint, and i recently acquired some Grey Knight Terminators. I'm gonna wait until i see the new Codex before i stick them together, and decide what weapons they'll use, or whther they will be paladins or not.
Nothing much more to say here, so peace out and enjoy whatever it is you are doing!

Some big-uns being painted now

So yes, I finished my Gorebeast Chariot. also magnetised the dude with the halberd so i could use him as a hero if need be.

Behold!

And I'm currently working on my Daemon Prince of Nurgle:

Just need to fin d hi an appropriate head! i don't like the ones in the box so I'm hunting for the old Defiler heads.

Will post when he's complete!

Path to Power (pt 2):

I've recently finished up my Warhounds of Chaos and Knights of Chaos. So far I think they're looking pretty good. I made an order a while back for a chaos lord, Sorceror and Daemon Prince, but the S.A. Postal service lost 'em, so now i am reconsidering what i want as my Lord choices. A Daemon Prince will work, but i'm not too sure if i want my Major-domo to be a huge target, easily sniped and flying all over the place. Perhaps as a damaging threat, something to use as a scalpel, but not my Commander. My Chariot arrived yesterday, which has lead me to think of maybe mounting my Lord in it, but, to use a Gorebeast or standard, that is the question...

Nevertheless, here are some pics of my army!

Treading the Path to Power

So in the last month or so I started up a Warriors of Chaos army for Warhammer Fantasy. this will pretty much be the first fantasy army that I've started and intend to continue with, my Tomb Kings of ages gone by disappearing with the great migration years ago.As is normal, I started up with a box of Chaos Warriors and started getting my colour scheme ready. I had some models lying around from the days of Mordheim and used them as a test

Above are the initial colour tests. I wanted a corroded look to them, so I experimented with citadel leadbelcher and Typhus corrosion on the left and Brass and Typhus corrosion on the right. the cracked feel on the left was achieved using agrellan earth and drybrushes of browns and whites. In the end I decided on the right hand colour scheme, initially wanting the cloaks to represent the Mark of their specific Chaos God, in this case Khorne.

I then moved on to getting all the bases ready. This is officially the first time i am actively trying to base my models. in the past I merely stuck em together and then thought about basing afterwards.

Using some slate pieces donated by Bradley over at LeyzerBattle Blog, I painted a brown base coat and covered that up with Agrellan Earth, alternating the thicknesses to give differing cracks. Some grey, brown and ushabti bone mixes, drybrushed erratically, and the bases were complete.

Next step was to get the cloaks ready. I batch painted them, making sure I didn't paint on the glue lines. Shades of red with some Nuln Oil and then some brown with shading on the fur.

I forgot to take more pics after that, but finally i had completed one warrior.

After a few mishaps and some glue errors i finally finished off the unit, adding two extra warriors from my old Mordheim models, to round off a unit of 14, with space for a hero.

Then came the magnet adventure. after fooling around a bit with some magnetic sheets, i chopped em up and got them going, making perfect movement trays

and the magnet test....

..... think it works.

anyways, will be putting up more details of my army. I have a whole lotta hounds, knights and marauders to do, and some Hero models arriving soon.Till then, keep rolling sixes!
